‘Discuss’ is an exhibition that brings together the contrasting and complimentary work of four makers. The works seek to question established boundaries within contemporary craft practices. This occurs through a variety of means and incorporates such things as digital technologies, exploration of different materials and their limits, the incorporation of social history and a questioning of the politics of production and waste. The exhibition aims to not only provide a suitable showcase for the work, but to also reveal some of the underlying details of the processes that go into its making. Sketches, drawings, digital plotting, photography and film provide an insight into the making of the work - helping to uncover additional layers of understanding and appreciation of the finished pieces. The exhibition space provides both a forum for the work and a detailed expansion of the ideas and processes that lie behind the makers’ craft.
